Description
These days the HiFiMAN Susvara hardly needs an introduction as it has been the company’s flagship headphone for many years. If you do a quick search on the internet, you will find raving reviews of this stellar headphone, which is considered as an end game headphone. The Susvara needs to be paired with a headphone amplifier that needs at least 8W of power to drive them as the Susvara is pretty hard to drive.
Stealth Magnets
One of the biggest upgrades involves the use of all-newly developed planar drivers. Despite the fact that planar driver technology has been used for many decades in the highest quality and best performing headphones, the magnets between which the diaphragm moves are mainly responsible for a significant loss in sound quality. These magnets block sound waves and create adverse turbulence.
The drivers of Susvara are equipped with so-called ‘stealth magnets’ on either side of an ultra-thin membrane. Thanks to its thinness, this membrane does not suffer from inertia and, thanks to the stealth magnets on both sides of the membrane, turbulence is prevented and sound waves will reach the ear canal unaffected. Thanks to the reduced diaphragm thickness, these drivers deliver an undistorted frequency response from just 6Hz up to an amazing 75kHz. You’ll experience your playlists with even more commitment than before.
