Noble Audio was founded by John and Jim Moulton and has spent over a decade building a reputation as one of the most respected names in custom and universal in-ear monitors, operating out of their headquarters in Texas. John, known within the company as "the Wizard," holds a PhD in audiology and is widely credited as one of the people who shaped the modern IEM industry into what it is today. Jim brings decades of legal and business background to the operation. Between them, Noble has stayed a genuinely family-run company even as it's grown into a global brand with international production and distribution.
For most of its history, Noble's identity was built entirely around IEMs, both custom-fit and universal, earning industry awards along the way (the Ronin was named Best Universal IEM for 2023 by Headfonics). More recently, the company has expanded into wireless with its FoKus line, including the all-wood FoKus Prestige true wireless IEM and the FoKus Mystique and H-ANC wireless monitors.
The bigger leap came with the FoKus Apollo, Noble's first over-ear headphone and, notably, the first wireless ANC headphone anywhere to pair a dynamic driver with a planar magnetic driver in the same shell. It's an ambitious move for a company built on IEMs, going head to head with established wireless ANC headphones from bigger names, but the results hold their own against comparable options in the same price range, a genuinely impressive showing for a first attempt at the category.
Whether it's a custom IEM built from an ear impression or a wireless ANC headphone for the daily commute, Noble's work still carries the same throughline: a small, hands-on team applying real audiology expertise rather than chasing feature checklists.
