HEDDphone D1

The HEDDphone D1 is a major departure from HEDD Audio’s earlier AMT-based headphones, trading the company’s trademark Air Motion Transformer driver for a custom dynamic design built around a Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD). This multilayer carbon diaphragm controls resonance through its geometry rather than using damping materials, resulting in faster transient response, cleaner decay, and a more natural tonal presentation. Where the AMT-driven HEDDphone and HEDDphone 2 emphasize extreme resolution and airy detail, the D1 aims for a more organic, balanced sound—still highly precise but smoother and easier to listen to over long sessions.

Technically, the D1’s 32-ohm impedance and 100 dB sensitivity make it much easier to drive than its predecessors, performing well with typical headphone amps and even portable gear. It remains an open-back, over-ear design built and hand-assembled in Berlin, offering a wide, natural soundstage with a lightweight form factor.
